POV (Pneumatic Cylinder Operated Valve Actuator)

Valve actuators that use pneumatic cylinders are called POVs (pneumatic cylinder operated valve actuator) and sometimes air actuators or cylinder actuators. POV has a much faster response time than MOV or AOV and is therefore commonly used in ESV (Emergency Shut-off Valve), shipment line, and fixed control line applications. Also due to this fast response speed, almost all of ball, plug, butterfly, and damper valve automation relies on POV. Although POV is used for some gate, globe, and linear slide valve (A.K.A. ram piston valve) applications, POV is mostly used for quarter turn valves.
